Quite often we do not receive follow up after approving and distributing Neighborhood Purpose Grants. This year, we gave a grant to United Voices of Literacy (UVOL) for their USC ReadersPlus “Readers are Leaders” Fall 2017 program and reading competition. This specific program worked to develop the literacy skills of underperforming youth at the 32nd Street School. It was inspiring to see children in our community, some of which have only lived in the US for a couple of years, fearlessly read on stage in front of their families and strangers. Not only was NANDC invited to attend the event, but UVOL shared this great recap video. Wonderful to see our grant $ in action!
