On Saturday, June 29th, 2019, the Neighborhood Council Budget Advocates hosted the annual Budget Day at City Hall in Downtown Los Angeles. Attendees included Los Angeles stakeholders, Neighborhood Council Board Members, Elected Officials, City employees and members of the press and anyone interested in learning more about our City's budget. The discussions were centered not only around the City’s Budget, but also about the changes and initiatives driving the FY 2019/20 plan,as well as the actual process and timeline. Speakers included our elected officials, department representatives and budget advocate leadership. Following the general session, attendees were invited to smaller working groups with members from their respective areas in the City to discuss their greatest concerns, thoughts and suggestions on how their quality of life and how to improve it. Here, each person was able to share their priorities and get a better understanding of the budget process to understand how they can influence the decisions made by our elected officials. Current members of the Budget Advocates helped facilitate the discussion and ensure everyone’s thoughts were documented so the Committee could incorporate them into their process this fiscal year.
